A New Chapter for Burke’s Book Store

To celebrate their 150th anniversary, Burke’s Book Store in Memphis has refreshed their storefront with a brand new awning. Parasol Awnings is proud to have been part of it!

The previous awning, originally installed by Parasol Awnings in 2007, had reached the end of its lifespan. For this milestone year, Burke’s wanted a new look that better aligned with their logo and shelving color – and that worked beautifully around the existing tree canopy.

The store owners tell us “2025 marks the 150th anniversary of Burke’s Book Store. The shop was in the Burke family for three generations before changing hands in the mid-1970s, and we’re now in our fourth location. To celebrate this milestone, we held a fundraiser to support building improvement. Replacing the awning was our top priority!”

Since sharing photos on social media, they’ve received a wave of compliments on the updated design, new color, and carefully placed lettering that catches the eye from multiple directions.
